As on the North Pacific 42’ Pilothouse all of the equipment on the CHB 36’ is very easy to access. Wherever there is equipment, there is access to it. There are several hatches throughout the boat making maintenance as easy as possible.
The engine room is accessed through 5 hatches on the salon floor. The main hatch is hinged and has a ladder going down. The engine room is well-lit and very spacious with ample room on all sides of the Yanmar LHA 160Hp engine. There is substantial lead cored sound insulation surrounding the engine room and covered with aluminum paneling giving the engine room a very clean feeling. The floor is also finished with aluminum paneling. You will quickly notice that all of the hoses and wiring are tucked away neatly and are labeled. The standard PYI dripless shaft seal can be seen through a clear plexiglass panel on the floor.
Standard equipment includes an Espar D5W which is located in the engine room. This 19,000 btu hot water heating system will keep the boat warm all year round. This system also heats the water in the hot water tank.
Although the boat comes standard with 4, 200 amp hour batteries many people still would like a generator and there is plenty of room for one in the engine room. We can supply the Northen Lights 5KW at the factory or we can pre-plumb and pre-wire for a smaller generator to be installed here. One we recommend for this boat is the MASE 2.2 KW.
